CSD: Commission on Sustainable Development, a UN body established in 1992 to follow up the Earth Summit.

IPF: Intergovernmental Panel on Forests, UN body, precursor to IFF, 1995-97. Produced proposals for action on forests.
IPO: Indigenous peoples organisation.
NGO: Non-governmental organisation.
Rio+10: see WSSD.
SBSTTA: 'substa' (Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice). Group of NGO, scientific and government expert, advises theCBD COP.
UN: United Nations.
UNCED: UN Conference on Environment and Development, the big confernce in Rio in 1992, also called the Earth Summit, which led to the creation of the CSD, and at which CSD and FCCC were signed.
UNEP: UN Environment Programme.
UNFF: UN Forum on Forests, current UN body devoted to forests, established in 2000. Its second meeting will be held in New York in March.
WSSD: World Summit on Sustainable Development, also called Rio+10. The 10 year conference of the CSD which will be held in Johannesburg in August.
